Getting Started

You will need the following in order to complete the application process:

  1. Knowledge and understanding of CARA qualifications
  2. Daily access to the internet
  3. A confirmed diagnosis - in writing - from you veterinarian

A written estimate is one of the most important documents you will need.  The estimate must be on your veterinarian's letterhead and should include the following:

  • Confirmation from your veterinarian that they are willing to work with CARA in accordance with our payment policy.
  • Your foster's confirmed diagnosis and treatment required.
  • The urgency of your foster's condition.
  • Complete costs involved.  Make certain that any follow-up charges are also included.  If your application is approved, CARA will help with the lowest amount on the original estimate as received when your application is submitted.  Without a copy of the estimate, we cannot help you.  We can only accept a complete application.

While these requirements may seem excessive, this information is necessary for CARA's directors to process your application in a timely manner. Once these things are in place, you will be able to complete the application.
