Congratulations from CARA and Lucy to our
latest winners!

Lucy Update 10/25/07 - From Lucy's Foster
Mom: The news from Lucy's test is back and it is not good. Lucy
has high grade lymphoma, which means it's growing very quickly.
She is such a sweet girl - as sick as she is, she still climbs
up the couch to sit with you and she never ever complains.
To look at her, you'd never know she is so sick - she's just
happy to see people and happy to be loved on. We are very
lucky, because aside from some occasional breathing problems,
she still enjoys her life. In fact, she's still tracking bunnies
in the back yard and chasing the vacuum through the house, lol!
There are so many things to consider, so many
options available that it makes your mind numb after a while
thinking about it. We have already put her on Prednisone in
hopes of shrinking the nodes and putting her a in form of
temporary remission. After much soul searching and consideration
of so many facts, we have decided the best route for Lucy is a
combination of traditional medicine (the Prednisone) and
homeopathic medicine. We have no idea of the costs at this time,
but you can be sure the money donated will go to pay for her
surgery and for future treatments to keep her healthy and happy
as long as possible. One other thing I did for Lucy this week
was to move her off of the rescue group adoption list. Lucy could
never be more loved, but now she has a real home and a last
name. We may not be able to save her, but she can have a
last name and a forever home with a family that loves her.
One thing is certain: any time Lucy has on this
earth is a result of the generous, caring people who gave so
much of themselves in the I Love Lucy Raffle. I am very
serious when we say we could not do this without you all.
Thank you doesn't begin say what we feel right now. I will stay
in touch and keep you posted on her progress and condition over
time. In the meantime, thank you - thank you, thank you,
thank you!
Lucy loves her angels!

Meet our Lucy. She's not married to a guy name Ricky, her
best friend's name isn't Ethel, and she hasn't gotten into
a fight stomping grapes ever in her life . . . but still, everyone loves Lucy.
Lucy came from an Arkansas animal shelter where everyone passed
her by. You see, Lucy weighed 60 pounds - she needed help
just to get up off the ground. Everyone walked by and pointed
and laughed; the only ones who stopped to pet her were the
shelter workers. And
when her time ran out, they called cocker spaniel rescue to try
and give Lucy a chance at a better life.
"Lucy, I'm home!" Lucy found a foster home with a soft bed,
nice walks, cocker siblings and most importantly a vet who knew
the signs of an underactive thyroid and tested her right away. With daily medication,
a proper diet and exercise, Lucy is now a happy outgoing girl
and has lost a whopping 25 pounds! She has her girlish
figure back and a wiggle in her walk. She loves to visit the
people at the shelter who didn't give up on her.
"Lucy, you got some 'splainin' to do...."
Lucy's still in trouble, though. Her lymph nodes are
severely swollen and all the usual suspects have been
eliminated,
so she must go through the difficult surgery to have a lymph
node removed for complete testing. We're praying it's not
lymphoma, but without further testing we won't know. One
thing's for sure: she has adventures left
to go on and so much happiness to share with others, but she
must get over this hurdle first.
Thank you for all you've done for Lucy and to
give her the best life can offer her.
