Ms. Morrett's Opus

Winners have been announced . . . CARA thanks everyone who made this raffle a success!

Meet Delilah, a sweet four year old cocker girl who came to New York from Arkansas where she had been found as a stray. Joan Morrett, of Cocker Pals Rescue, received an urgent plea for Delilah which stated she had been turned down by three rescues due to her health issues. You see, Delilah was heartworm positive and had developing cataracts. One look at her precious face and everyone at Cocker Pals knew they had to help her. The wonderful folks who rescued her from the shelter got together the funds to fly Delilah to New York. Delilah arrived in New York on April 6th, 2008.

The first order of business was having her seen by a vet where a treatment plan was developed for her. Delilah had her first HW treatment on 4/18/08 and will see the eye specialists at Cornell as soon as she is done with her HW treatment.

By the time Delilah is ready to go to her new home CockerPals will have spent approximately $3,000 on her. All who have met her agree she is worth every penny. However, that's a lot of pennies, so CARA is helping raise funds.

In the Movie "Mr. Holland's opus", Mr. Holland gave his students direction. This is what CockerPals gives to so many cockers - a new direction, a new chance at life. And so we bring you Ms. Morrett's Opus. Delilah has a new chance at life, a chance to sing a new song full of love and hope, not the sadness she once knew.
